Why Finite is Switching from WebEx to Zoom

When it comes to selecting the right software for video conferencing and collaboration, users take different factors into account, such as reliability, costs, user-friendliness, and simple screen sharing. Whether we’re talking about simple or robust functions, everything is important when it comes to enabling effective and frictionless collaboration.

Why Finite is Switching from WebEx to Zoom

Both Zoom and WebEx are video-conferencing tools that enable teams to conduct conferences and hold meetings online. Video conferences, webinars, events, group messaging, and other functionalities make things much easier for businesses to communicate. However, Zoom comes with a myriad of advantages that have led Finite to make a switch. Let’s discuss the major differences and advantages that Zoom has over CISCO’s WebEx.

Required infrastructure

Zoom is much easier and more efficient than WebEx when it comes to ease of connection and use. What you need to connect with a Zoom web conferencing is a Cloud Connector account and Video Conference Codec. In WebEx, users need a WebEx paid account, Smartnet, TMS, Expressway and VCS Control, and a video conference codec.

Price

When choosing the right video conferencing platform for your company, pricing is a fundamental factor. Zoom offers more affordable pricing than WebEx, charging only $15 per month per user for a business account (and a free trial period for new users). For up to 100 participants, Zoom offers a free plan. WebEx’s business plan is $29, but when compared to Zoom’s high-quality audio and video and unique features, Zoom still makes a more cost-effective offer.

Conference and security features

Both Zoom and WebEx have conference features of similar quality, such as the ability to allow file transfers, remove attendees, and support co-browsing. Additionally, Zoom offers Breakout Rooms – a unique feature that allows the meeting host to split a meeting into up to 50 separate sessions and switch between them at any time. As for security, both WebEx and Zoom are highly reliable and secure, with features such as user authentication and encryption.

Video quality

Zoom has been proven to provide video quality that’s superior to WebEx. WebEx does also provide good quality video, but Zoom again gains an edge. There’s no reason to tolerate choppy and grainy video when conferencing with colleagues and clients.

Design

The ease-of-use and user-friendliness are the two most important factors when it comes to business software. If the software is too complex, it will waste much of your valuable time. User feedback tells us that Zoom has a better user-friendly design when compared to WebEx. It allows users to instantly join an online video meeting or conference with common features across all devices.

Screen sharing

If you want to share computer audio during screen sharing, Zoom is the only video conferencing solution to support it. With WebEx, you can share a screen but without audio. Zoom also enables users to share their iPad/iPhone screen from Mac and Windows via Airplay, which is not supported by WebEx.

After considering customer and expert feedback and reviews, as well as all the features, we have found Zoom to be a superior video conferencing tool to WebEx. WebEx is also equipped with many interesting features, but the user-friendliness, pricing, screen sharing capabilities, and required infrastructure have ruled to Zoom’s favor.
