Performance Analytics Training Series: Automated Indicators

Once you have built or selected your indicator source, you can create an automated indicator. Automated indicators are the most fundamental component of Performance Analytics. Aside from a few additional configurations, building an automated indicator is a similar process to creating the indicator source. One primary difference is that the data can be queried to provide a more specific result than the indicator source.

Remember from the previous topic that a single indicator source may be used for multiple automated indicators. Therefore, it is important to keep in mind that whatever conditions are applied to the indicator source will also be applied to the automated indicator that is created from it.

Automated indicators collect data “scores” automatically through collection jobs, which are covered in the Jobs topic of this series. Another component of automated indicators is called a Breakdown. Breakdowns are self-explanatory – they “break down” the scores from the automated indicator into more concise metrics. For example, if you are collecting scores on Change Requests, you could break down those scores by Assignment Group or Impact.

In this video, you will learn how to create an automated indicator and what functions the different components of it serve.
