Enhancing the data represented by your automated indicators can be done by adding a breakdown. Breakdowns enable you to filter your indicator score by specific attributes. For example, if your indicator collects scores on server configuration items, having a breakdown by class will allow you to view the score for each child class of the server class.
Adding a breakdown is a simple step in the configuration of your indicator. ServiceNow provides many out-of-box breakdowns. Creating a breakdown, however, requires a few steps including the selection or creation of a breakdown source.

Like many other aspects of Performance Analytics breakdowns are provided out of the box by ServiceNow, but sometimes creating your own is necessary – this will be covered in a later section.
